【Description】
In the New Testament, our Savior reveals that the second greatest commandment is to love our neighbor, in the same way that we already love ourselves. The short stories of this volume illustrate that the failure to love, evidenced by dishonesty and careless self-absorption, carries forth its effects from the individual to the family and society as a whole.
In contrast, you will see the fruit of repentance and the blessings that follow when we model the mercy and forgiveness of Christ and humbly consider others before ourselves.
Originally written in 1849.
Other stories in this volume, following The Silver Cup, are:
Bessie’s Promise: Always Tell the Truth
The Errand Boy and the Shopwoman
【About the Author】
Emma Marshall (1830–1899) was an English children’s author who wrote more than 200 novels. She began to write out of a desire to amuse and instruct young people. Her first story, Happy Days at Fernbank, was published in 1861. Emma’s writing efforts became prolific when, in 1878, the failure of the West of England bank swept away her husband’s income and position. Sales of her books grew rapidly and paid off all their debts!
